In the early days of karting “Impact engineering” was not much of a discipline. Already early on people did agree that the standard racing kart chassis was not ideal for rental-karts. Following a busy weekend at the kart track would be a full week’s work to weld everything together and make the karts ready to deploy the next weekend again by the mainly inexperienced but overly excited amateur kart-pilots. 

 The solution to this almost always was found in further strengthening of the frame by the use of additional and stronger (read heavier) tubing. If this causes the frame to crack at a different spot, simply add another/heavier tube there as well…

The deployment of frames specifically designed for rental kart usage meant a big step forward. Although here again the initial design focused mainly on the use of the lightest possible design. The innovative company ‘Interkart’ has pioneered from its start with the so-called ‘impact engineering’ concept whereby technology is applied to manage the consequences (impact) of collisions in a more frame- and driver friendly manner. All current
Interkart models today greatly benefit from this. The majority of the kinetic energy resulting from a crash will be absorbed before it ‘hits’ the chassis. The innovative design of the chassis then distributes the remaining energy in a safe manner over the frame. Even we can not produce a 100% indestructible rental kart, but we are getting close, while still keeping karting ‘fun’.
